Palace Theatre, Kilmarnock
This Feasibility Study set out to increase visitors into the building and to encourage them to stay and have a drink by increasing the size and visibility of the bar areas. This wonderful building had several changes of level which made it difficult for disabled people to use. There were a series of narrow corridors with little usable space on the ground floor. Through an ingenious series of ramps, and removing walls to open up spaces, Dallman Johnstone transformed the ground floor into usable space which flowed seamlessly from area to area. Upstairs there were proposals for another bar, kitchen areas, toilets and multifunctional space.
