The Haven, Stirling
Stirling Baptist Church had bought this former Brethren Hall as an outreach facility for the "top of the town". Previously their proposals had failed to gain conservation consent, so Dallman Johnstone were brought in. The design was radically changed to resolve complex Disability Discrimination Act and fire escape requirements, as well as satisfying the Planning Conservation Department.
The design cleverly re-interpreted the original Co-op shop front, thereby integrating the desires of the conservationist with the church wanting to attract passers-by into the building.
